Fitment & Compatibility Guide

Choosing the right attachment comes down to one thing: making sure it actually fits your machine and coupler. This page explains how our fitment system works, what “standard configuration” means, and what happens if something doesn’t fit. This is a practical guide only – for the full legal version, see our Terms & Conditions and our Returns & Refund Policy.

1. How Our Fitment System Works

Our catalog is built to make things simple: you shop by machine make and model, then by coupler / mount style. You generally don’t need to calculate pin sizes to place an order.

  • Machine-first browsing: Start by selecting the correct make and model of your excavator.
  • Mount style: Within each model, you’ll see options such as pin-on, quick attach, X-Change, etc.
  • Standard OEM configuration: Our fitment data assumes your machine is running a standard OEM coupler/mount for that model – not a heavily modified or unknown aftermarket setup.

If you pick the correct machine and the standard mount type from our catalog but something still doesn’t fit because our application data was wrong, we treat that as our problem and handle it under our fitment policy. If you pick the wrong model or wrong mount type, that’s treated as a customer-choice return.

2. Step-by-Step: Choosing the Right Attachment

  1. Confirm your machine make and model.
Double-check the model tag on your excavator (for example: Bobcat E35, CAT 301.7 CR, Hitachi ZX60-3, Deere 35G). Don’t rely on memory or “it looks like” – read the actual plate or documentation.
  2. Confirm your coupler / mount style.
Ask yourself: are you running pin-on, an OEM quick-attach system, or an aftermarket coupler? If you’re not sure, see the quick visual guide below.
  3. Shop the correct collection.
Once you know the machine and mount style, shop the matching collection. For example, choose the “ZX60-3 Quick Attach” collection if that’s exactly what you’re running.
  4. If anything is non-standard, stop and contact us.
If you’re running a custom coupler, welded hangers, or you’re simply not sure what’s on the stick, email us before ordering. It’s easier to get it right up front than to ship heavy steel twice.

3. Quick Attach vs Pin-On: How to Tell

If you’re unsure which mount style your machine has, here are some quick visual cues:

3.1 Pin-On (Direct to Stick)

  • Boom/stick has two round pin bosses where the bucket pins slide directly through.
  • No separate “hook” or “frame” between the stick and the bucket.
  • Changing buckets usually means driving pins in/out with a hammer or pin press.

3.2 Quick Attach / Quick Coupler

  • There is a separate coupler frame between the stick and the bucket.
  • Bucket mounts via hooks, wedges, or a latch mechanism instead of bare pins going directly through the stick.
  • Often branded (for example: “Bobcat X-Change”, “Wain-Roy”, etc.) and may have a lever, hydraulic cylinder, or locking pin.

If you’re still not sure, take a couple of clear photos of the coupler area from the side and underneath and send them to us.

4. When You Should Contact Us Before Ordering

Reach out before you place an order if any of the following apply:

  • You’re not sure whether your machine is pin-on or quick attach.
  • You have a non-OEM or aftermarket coupler.
  • The stick or linkage has been cut, welded, or modified.
  • You are mixing parts between different machines or brands.
  • You’re replacing a custom bucket someone “made to fit” years ago.

Email us at support@rdxindustrial.com with:

  • Your machine make and model (for example, “Hitachi ZX60-3”).
  • A short note describing your coupler/mount situation (pin-on, OEM quick attach, aftermarket, etc.).
  • Clear photos of the coupler area from both sides and underneath.
  • Photos of any brand tags or markings on the coupler itself.

5. Basic Measuring Guide (When We Ask for It)

Most customers don’t need to measure anything to order. But if there’s a fitment dispute or a non-standard setup, we may ask you for a few basic measurements so we can verify what’s going on.

  • Pin diameter: The thickness of the pin (measured with calipers or a good tape measure).
  • Pin center-to-center: Distance from the center of the front pin to the center of the rear pin.
  • Dipper / boss gap: The inside distance between the ears/bosses where the bucket or coupler sits.
  • Coupler width / ear width: Overall width of the mounting area where the bucket attaches.

If we ask for these measurements, we’ll usually send you a quick diagram so you know exactly where to measure.

6. What Happens If Something Doesn’t Fit

Here’s the plain-language version of how we handle mis-fits. The full legal version is in our Terms & Conditions.

6.1 When It’s on Us (Our Catalog or Advice Is Wrong)

If you:

  • Selected the correct machine make/model from our catalog; and
  • Selected the standard coupler/mount style for that machine; and
  • Your machine is OEM-standard (no weird coupler swaps or heavy modifications); and
  • The attachment still does not fit because our application data or written fitment guidance was wrong,

then we treat that as our error. In those cases, we will:

  • Arrange and pay for reasonable return freight or provide a prepaid return label / bill of lading; and
  • Either send the correct replacement at our cost (including standard outbound shipping), or refund your attachment purchase if a correct option isn’t available.

We do not cover downtime, lost jobs, or your labor to install/remove the attachment. But we will own the catalog error and make the attachment/right product situation whole.

6.2 When It’s on You (Wrong Model, Wrong Mount, Non-Standard Setup)

If you:

  • Picked the wrong machine make or model;
  • Picked the wrong coupler/mount type (for example, quick attach vs pin-on);
  • Have a non-standard or unknown aftermarket coupler that we did not confirm in writing; or
  • Ignored clear fitment notes and tried to use a product on a different machine than listed,

then any return is treated as a customer-choice return under our returns policy:

  • Return must be requested and shipped back within the required time windows.
  • Item must be unused, unmounted, and in clean, resalable condition.
  • A standard restocking fee applies, and you are responsible for return freight.

Full details are in Section 9 (Returns, Refunds & Exchanges) of our Terms & Conditions and in our Returns & Refund Policy.

7. Quick Checklist Before You Order

  • âś” You’ve verified your machine’s exact make and model from the serial/model plate.
  • âś” You know whether you’re running pin-on or a specific quick-attach system.
  • âś” You’re shopping the correct collection for that machine and mount style.
  • âś” You don’t have a heavily modified or unknown aftermarket coupler – or if you do, you’ve emailed us photos first.
  • âś” You understand that “free shipping” covers the original outbound shipment, not all possible returns/exchanges.

If anything in that list is a “no” or a “not sure”, pause and contact us. Send your questions and photos to support@rdxindustrial.com and we’ll help you sort it out before you buy.
